MEET EMILY THACKER, Rockingham County 9-1-1 Telecommunicator & Eden Rescue Squad Volunteer
I would like to introduce you to Emily Thacker.  Emily is a Rockingham County 9-1-1 Telecommunicator and a volunteer in the Eden Rescue Squad.  Emily is a 34-year-old, single mother of three children (ages 11, 6, 5) and lives in Eden.  Emily was diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer.  Emily has been a trooper since her diagnosis.  She has had multiple doctor’s appointments for testing, scans, and biopsies. Emily has had to leave work for appointments and came back to work afterwards.  Emily had a double mastectomy on Oct. 1, 2019; followed by reconstructive surgery; and possibly chemo and radiation afterwards.  This will be, not only a lengthy process for her, but a costly one as well.  Come put your Breast foot forward, be a part of HEROES FOR A CURE, and walk for Emily on Oct. 17th, 5:30pm, Rockingham County Governmental Center 371 NC Hwy. 65, Reidsville, 27320.

Rockingham County Government's Emergency Services Director Rodney Cates announced several ways the Emergency Services staff is educating the community about Breast Cancer Awareness.  Throughout the month of Oct., you'll see EMS staff members wearing pink shirts to THINK PINK!  All Rockingham County ambulances have a pink, magnetic, breast cancer awareness ribbon attached to the doors.
