 Mail Notice
 Effective March 1, 2017

The Rockingham County Register of Deeds office implemented the practice of returning documents at the time of recordation. We understand that this new practice will result in some changes to long standing practices, but the need to cut any and all extra expenses makes this change necessary. We ask for your understanding and cooperation as we attempt to lower our operating cost to the Rockingham County tax payer.

From this point forward, we will only accept one of the following as appropriate return methods:

1) A self-addressed stamped envelope provided upon presentation
2) Additional fees included to compensate for postage (can be deducted from in-house escrow account)
3) A notation on the document for it to be returned either over the counter or placed in an in-house box (the latter is only available to those who have a box in this office).
